Aloe Vera!
Most of us know that the aloe vera plant is an excellent go-to for natural sunburn relief, but many don’t realize the outstanding benefits that we may also get from drinking the juice made from the inner leaves of this amazing plant. For instance:
The aloe plant is very water-dense, so it’s an ideal way to prevent or treat dehydration, especially in the hot summer months or before or after an intense workout.
It is an alkaline-based food, allowing your body to fight diseases that breed in an acidic environment.
It relieves constipation by hydrating your intestinal tract while simultaneously normalizing healthy bacteria in your gut. It also may decrease irritation in the stomach and intestines for people battling IBS or Diverticulitis.
In addition to being jam packed with nutrients, it is also rich in phytonutrients, increasing functionality and supporting the liver.
It has the ability to moisturize skin from the inside out while fighting acne and lessening the appearance of skin conditions such as psoriasis.
The compounds present in the juice help control secretion of acid in your stomach, which in turn helps fight heartburn!
Be aware that not all aloe vera juice is created equally! Some have tons of sugar , are colorized, and aren’t organic. On the other hand, the decolorized, unpurified versions may cause diarrhea or cramping. Drink carefully and definitely DO NOT EVER throw a whole chunk of aloe into a smoothie without removing the skin like I may have done while in a rush to get to class on time. Doing so may cause awful food poisoning and hallucinations. :(
