Probiotics

Probiotics are living microorganisms that, when ingested, provide numerous health benefits to the body, ranging from improved digestion and skin to an enhanced immune system with a decreased risk of many diseases. It definitely sounds super creepy, but your gut flora is made up of hundreds of different types of microorganisms, including yeasts, bacteria, and viruses.  Having an unbalanced gut flora leads to discomfort and many different diseases. Probiotics can be obtained through supplements as well as from foods prepared by bacterial fermentation including yogurt, sauerkraut, kefir, tempeh, kimchi, kefir, and my personal favorite- KOMBUCHA! In a pinch, you can always take a swig of unfiltered apple cider vinegar, and chase it down with some water…Cheers!
